OUR CONFESSION OF FAITH

1. We believe in the Divine inspiration, the infallibility and supreme authority of the Old and New Testaments in their entirety and that the Holy Spirit so moved the writers, and what they wrote are authoritative statements of truth.
2. We believe there is one God in whom there are three equal Divine Persons revealed as the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit, and who of His own sovereign Will created the heavens, the earth and all that is contained within the Universe.
3. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ is the eternally existing only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. As God He became flesh and dwelt among us: as man He was God.
4. We believe all men are in a fallen, sinful and lost condition through the rebellion of Adam and Eve who were created without sin, and in this state of depravity are helpless to save themselves, and are under the condemnation of God to eternal punishment in Hell.
5. We believe that salvation from the penalty and consequences of sin is found only through the substitutionary atoning death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
6. We believe it is the Holy Spirit alone who convicts men of sin, leads them to repentance, creates faith within them and regenerates and fills those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord. It is the indwelling Spirit who bestows the Gifts of the Spirit and manifests the Fruit of the Spirit in the believer.
7. We believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and on the third day rose from the dead; that He appeared to men who touched Him and knew His bodily presence, and that He ascended to His Father.
8. We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return in person with His saints and that the full consummation of the Kingdom of God awaits His return.
9. We believe those who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit will receive a resurrection body at the return of Jesus Christ and be forever with the Lord while those who have not believed will be resurrected to stand at the Judgement Seat of God to receive His judgement and eternal condemnation to Hell.
10. We believe in the actual existence of Satan who is the father of all evil and opposed to God although ultimately subject to the purposes of God and destined to be confined forever to Hell.
11. We believe there are two ordinances instituted by the Lord Jesus Christ, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
12. We believe the church is the Body of Christ composed of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ which finds its visible manifestation in the local community of believers and ministers through the co-operative exercise of God-given gifts by the entire membership. Each local community of believers is competent under Christ as Head of the Church to order its life without interference from any civil authority.

Educational Programme

The Nambucca Valley Christian Community School is a multi-grade school (from Kindergarten to Yr 12) offering a balanced education in all Key Learning Areas — English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), The Arts, Languages, Physical Education, Health and Sport (PD/H/PE), as well as a whole school devotional programme.

NSW Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan

The Nambucca Valley Christian Community School is participating in the NSW Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan.

This funding is focused on strengthening whole school approaches to literacy and numeracy that lead to improved student outcomes.

Early Intervention / Special Assistance Programmes

Kindergarten and Year 1 are assessed annually to identify students at risk.

The NSW Literacy and Numeracy Action Plan provides the School with the opportunity to lift outcomes, especially in literacy and numeracy, through developing a strong capacity in the general classroom and additional supports. These include Reading Mastery, Spelling Mastery, MiniLit, MultiLit and a Volunteer Reading Programme.

The Nambucca Valley Christian Community School aims to provide an education which helps each student to reach personal and nationally recognised benchmarks.  The School actively supports students requiring literacy and numeracy assistance.

Grant money allocated in 2018 will fund additional resources, training and development in literacy and numeracy.

The School community is well supported by parents, grandparents and volunteers from both the School and the wider Christian community. Volunteers are integrated into the school in the areas of Reading (MINILIT, MULTILIT and one on one reading).

The implementation of a ‘whole school’ approach to learning has become one of the focal areas of the new school culture.

The school has implemented the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS NEXT) program as a means of assessing literacy. Spelling Mastery is also run to cater to individual spelling needs.

The Reading Mastery program has also become used in the K-6 section of the school, which involves the whole school being assessed and placed in groups of students within the same level and supported through Direct Instruction.

Assessment also takes place twice a year using the Literacy and Numeracy Continuums.

Individual programmes are available for families who will work in partnership with teachers in special home assistance programmes with associated monitoring as required.

Computer Education

Our school sets a high priority on Computer Skills in Education. All classes receive Information and Communication Technology. All classrooms have WiFi internet access, as well as the school library.

High School students have idividual laptops dedicated for their use each day. K-6 students have laptops and IPADS available as part of their learning programmes. The classrooms also each have data projectors and teachers integrate ICT and a range of computer based teaching strategies into their daily programmes.

Years 7 and 8 have computer education in their Technology classes.

Information Software Technology is offered as an Elective to Years 9 and 10.

Information Processing Technology is offered as a HSC subject.

Sporting Events

K-6 participates in an afternoon Health Hop Programme, a full comprehensive Sporting Programme as well as full school carnivals for K-12 including:

• Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics
• Eligible students from Years 3-12 are provided the opportunity to attend the Christian Schools Zone Carnivals in the appropriate centres and the Christian Schools State Carnival in Sydney (CSSA)
• Christian Schools also hold a combined carnival with other Independent Schools in Sydney which eligible students attend (CIS).
• Every two years Christian Schools combine at an interstate level (Nationals).
  
• Gala Days with other local schools and Christian schools are held in the Mid and Far North Coast.
• NVCCS participates in Netball, Soccer, Rugby League, AFL and Tennis.
